FAQ

Frequently ask questions

How are JH gloves made?

How Your JH Glove Is Made

Every JH glove is built with intention, one step at a time. From raw hide to final form, each glove passes through a deliberate process led by skilled craftsmen.

Stage 1: Precision Cut

Your order is assigned to a dedicated craftsman who selects the leather and cuts each component by hand from the hide. Signature JH stampings and markings are applied at this stage.

Stage 2: Embroidery & Personalization

Custom text, logos, graphics, and flags are carefully stitched into the glove, ensuring every detail reflects your design and identity.

Stage 3: Assembly & Stitching

Each individual piece is stitched together, transforming separate components into the structure of your glove.

Stage 4: Lacing & Forming

The glove is fully laced, then shaped and formed to pro-spec standards, establishing its structure, balance, and feel.

Stage 5: Quality Inspection

Your glove is inspected for craftsmanship, durability, and order accuracy to ensure it meets JH standards before leaving the workshop.

Stage 6: Final Prep & Shipment

Once approved, your glove is prepared for shipment and begins its journey to you.

How long does it take to get a custom glove?

You can typically estimate a 4-6 Weeks turn around time on all full custom gloves. If we have it in stock we will ship immediately.

How do I break in my new glove?

JH gloves are built with intention and premium materials, designed to form naturally through use. The best way to break in your glove is by playing catch and using a glove mallet to gradually soften the leather while preserving its structure and feel.

When using a mallet, focus on these key areas:

  • Palm and pocket (beneath the web): Shape the pocket depth and placement to match your playing style.
  • Heel break points: Define how the glove closes when receiving the ball.
  • Web and back of the glove: Loosen the fingers and web to improve flexibility without overworking the leather.

What Not to Do

  • Do not steam or apply heat to your JH glove. Heat can damage the leather, weaken the construction, and compromise the color and finish.
  • Do not apply excessive pressure or attempt shortcuts like flattening or running over the glove. These methods damage the glove’s form and reduce long-term performance.

JH gloves are meant to be broken in with patience, repetition, and respect for the craft—just like the game itself.

Caring for Your JH Glove

To preserve the quality and performance of your JH glove, proper care is essential.

  • Keep your glove clean by regularly wiping it down with a slightly damp cloth to remove dirt, grass, and debris.
  • Store your glove indoors in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid leaving it in a gear bag where pressure can crush the shape and compromise the structure.
  • Condition sparingly when needed. At the end of the season—or if the leather begins to feel dry—use a light, glove-safe conditioner recommended for premium leather to maintain feel, color, and longevity. Avoid heavy oils or unapproved products, as they can darken leather, weaken structure, or alter the finish.
  • Inspect your laces regularly for signs of wear or damage. Do not use your glove if laces or key structural areas show excessive wear, as this can affect performance and durability.

With the right care, your JH glove will continue to break in naturally, perform consistently, and age with character—just like the player who wears it.
